1.grant vt. 授予，同意，准予
take for granted是固定表达，为习惯用语，指“将...看作理所当然”，如to take nothing for granted(不把任何事物看作是理所应当的)。 take sth for granted不可接宾语从句，一定要接时，需在take后加it作形式宾语。
We took it for granted that you knew the whole matter.

词义辨析：big, large, great, grand
