　　Located in the east of China, Taihu Lake, with an area of 2,250square kilometers, isthe third largest freshwater lake in China after PoyangLake and Dongting Lake.There are around 90 islands in Taihu Lake, with an areavarying from a few square meters to a few square kilometers. Taihu Lake isfamous for its unique Taihu Lake Stone, which is often used to decoratetraditional Chinese garden. Besides, Taihu Lake is well known for itshigh-yielding fishing industry. Since the late 1970s,catching fishes and crabshas been of great importance to the residents living along the lake. Moreover,it made great contributions to the economy of Taihu Lake’ neighboring regions.Taihu Lake Area is one of the ceramics industry bases in China.
